I was assigned to help a number of post-doc and graduate students with their research, and in the summer of 2021, I was given the responsibility for my own project; developing a Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (CHiP) sequencing protocol for echinoderms, which had not yet been successfully done. This included:- Fixation, Sonication, and tagmentation reactions- qPCR set up and analysis- Synthesizing cDNA and RNA- Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and gel electrophoresis- In-situ hybridizations- Microscopic Imaging- Surgical / Dissection Skills - I was the first person in the lab to be able to successfully make a vertical cut on starfish larva, a process which I then repeated dozens of times, to observe and record the healing process.- Pinpoint issues in experimental protocols and set-ups, and then solve them by utilizing experimental skills, techniques, and by consulting other people in the lab- Taking extensive, detailed lab notes Show less

I volunteered at YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee/Spencer as a counselor in training. I specifically worked with children ages 7-9 years old. This was a sleep-away camp, and I was responsible for these children 24 hours a day during their time at camp Kon-O-Kwee.

During middle and high school, using self taught skills, I filmed and edited over 75 instructional videos for the Carnegie Mellon College of Science Physics and Chemistry departments. I have included links to two YouTube channels showing some of videos I produced.
