Project Title: Establishing an Ingroup-Outgroup Bias Model in MiceFor this research project we aim to shed light on the phenomenon of in-group bias in mice, with the objective of understanding of the underlying neural circuit and cellular mechanisms of this social bias. Our focus on in-group bias specifically, can provide valuable insights into addressing health disparities in our society, as most research in this area has been conducted within the field of social psychology (Major et al., 2013). By understanding the development of in-group bias, we can potentially identify ways to mitigate it. This is especially critical in light of the growing divisiveness within our country and beyond, as history shows that such conflicts can negatively impact health outcomes and access to resources, particularly for individuals based on their group identity (Aberson et al., 2000; Perry et al., 2017).

Student mentor for rising high school freshman. The program focuses on migrant youth whose family occupation relies on agriculture. The academic skills gained during the Dare to Dream Academies helped students develop career visions and frames the importance of high school performance.

The College Assistance Migrant Program Administrative position provides support to CAMP staff with administrative duties such as file and data management as well as event planning. Here I help to update and maintain current CAMP scholar files, plan and organizer workshops for scholars, along with most other administrative duties.

The Latino Student Fund intern position helps to provide opportunities for a strong academic foundation for underserved PreK-12th grade students and their families in the D.C area to promote higher education and professional leadership. As an intern, the main tasks entail managing large amounts of data, creating weekly lesson plans, and meeting with various guest speakers and panelists who take part in our summer college preparatory program.

Lead Facilitator for a NASA-funded program that set out to provide equitable environmental education to youth across Washington state.
