"The internet isn't safe, don't trust everything you see there." When my mom told me this as a child, I didn't realize how right, or how relevant, this statement would turn out to be. My goals changed throughout my life. At one point I dreamed of being a chef. At another, I wanted to storyboard video games, and not just for anyone, for Bioware. Then I ran face first into the real world, falling in love with a career path that I didn't expect fulfillment from, just sustenance. Yet, I managed to find everything I could possibly want, and more, in cyber security. I don't have to worry about a boring day-to-day, because there's always something new. Yes parts of the job repeat themselves, but I can look forward to new vulnerabilities to research, updating IOCs, and staying up to date with the latest technology and best practices. I've never been satiated by the learning that happens in traditional schooling. Now, I have a reason to continue expanding my knowledge, and it's not because I have to; it's because I want to.I love that I can choose to not hide-away from my co-workers and managers on a day to basis. I like people. I appreciate the opportunity to both have my own space and engage with those around me. So far, as I'm just beginning my career, my speciality lies in research, analysis, problem-solving, and communication. I've just began my certification journey, but I already have the PCEP entry level python certification, and plan on getting Network + in November 2022, Security + by May 2023, and Blue Team Level 1 by Spring 2024.
