I work closely with Medical Safety Assessment Physicians and PV Scientists by leading cross-functional Safety Management Teams and relevant sub-teams to support Solid Tumor Oncology products in varying phases of the drug development life-cycle. To ensure a high standard of care for our patients, I help to complete signal assessment activities and document key decisions, timelines, and action items and serve as a point of contact for executing and retrieving reports using J-Review, PVStar, Solstice, and other data application systems.

As a technologist, I worked autonomously conducting various testing procedures to provide care to our patients. Procedures included varying levels of complexity and specialized technical analyses to be completed in a fast paced environment. Routine procedures included testing of COVID-19 via PCR, DNA extractions, and HPLC. In addition, a key role as a technologist involved troubleshooting and problem solving to ensure the highest standard of care for patients.

Our primary goal was to optimize the current standard of care at Tampa General Hospital as well as in the surrounding community. As a small team, we followed advanced protocols which call for the use of molecular techniques including DNA extraction methods, PCR, Next Generation Sequencing, and the use of data analysis software. Collaboration with Infection Prevention and Microbiology staff helped us to collect ongoing data and validate new software and machinery. Additionally, we practiced general laboratory techniques such as operating a pipette, plating specimens, and following quality control procedures on a daily basis.

I worked closely with medical technologists to carry out general testing of a variety of patient specimens. I assessed individual specimens for potential collection errors and resolved and prevented problems. As a technician, I worked under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Daily duties included updating patient prescription information, data entry, filling prescriptions, releasing prescriptions to patients, answering basic questions concerning prescriptions, collaborated with doctors to insure accuracy of prescriptions, and cleaned the workspace.

I had the opportunity to apply previous knowledge of chemistry and biology to carry out research protocols developed by graduate students at the university. In this position I became more familiar with operating various laboratory tools such as a spectrophotometer, lyophilizer, centrifuge, and Microsoft Excel. I also participated in student conferences where we presented data collected from protocols we followed.
