Teacher Assistant
As a Teaching Assistant in a 12:1:4 classroom, I assist the teacher with all aspects of our day. This includes everything from material prep to working 1:1 with students. I also work 1:1 with a young student who has physical disabilities. These duties include feeding, toileting and assisting with communication as he is non-verbal.
Finance Manager/Title Clerk
As the sole employee of a small used car dealership, I was in charge of every aspect of the business. This included finding vehicles for the lot and arranging the appropriate transportation. Once the vehicle arrived, I coordinated any service the vehicle may need. When the vehicle was ready for the lot, I used the appropriate marketing strategies to create customer interest. I held myself to a very high standard in regards to customer service. I did everything I could to make sure my customers were completely satisfied with their entire experience. When a purchase was made, I was in charge of preparing all the paperwork for the dealership and the state. This included Financial Contracts with Ally Bank as well as NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. I maintained all records for each vehicle in our inventory. Some other duties included maintaining the office and keeping supplies stocked.
Lead Teacher
During the summer, I helped develop a summer camp for children ages 2-7. This was a theme based camp that met 4 days a week for 8 weeks. I helped create and deliver lessons and develop open-ended activities and projects that allowed children to learn while being actively engaged and independent. Family time was also incorporated by encouraging a "Family Night". Families got to enjoy carnival games created by their children, snacks, and prizes.
Teacher Assistant
I began my career with the Williamson School District as a NYS certified Level 3 Teaching Assistant. I helped create a program for students in grades 4-8 with emotional disabilities. This was a brand new program for the district and needed every detail planned. Once created, I was placed in the 7th-8th grade class involved in this new program. My responsibilities included assisting with curriculum delivery, prepping materials for lessons, general classroom maintenance, and behavior management. I became certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention to increase safety of both students and staff during crisis. During this time I also began coaching. I received my Permanent Coaching Certificate for Volleyball which I coached for 4 seasons. I also co-coached Track and Field for 1 season. After 3 years in this program, I moved to the High School to work in the Learning Center (a resource for children who needed extra instructional support). My responsibilities included daily classroom maintenance and getting classwork/homework reports and schedules from all classroom teachers to ensure I was prepared for all students. This position required great flexibility. I had to be able to work with numerous students working on all different subjects in grades varying from 9-12. After 2 years in the Learning Center, I transferred to the Elementary School to work in an inclusive UPK class. My responsibilities included daily classroom maintenance, supporting the teacher in the delivery of lessons, supervising students during computer and free time, and assisting with classroom management. In addition to UPK, I provided Additional Instructional Support to students K-4 who struggled in Math and ELA. I provided both push-in and pull-out services. While in the Elementary school, I would assume the role of the classroom teacher in the instances where no substitute was available. After having my second child, I made the decision to leave the position I loved to stay home with my children.
Lead Teacher
In a Child Care Center for children of migrant workers, I started as a teacher aide in a pre-school class. I assisted children in daily activities ranging from personal hygiene to activities intended to increase their understanding of the english language. When I was asked to cover for a teacher in the Toddler room, I gladly said yes. That lead to the opportunity for me to be the lead teacher in that room. I was in charge of all activities including educational, recreational, behavioral and general wellbeing.
Teachers Aide
While working as a Teachers Aide in a class designed for high school students with emotional disabilities, my responsibilities included assisting with delivery of classroom instruction, general classroom maintenance, and behavior management. I supervised students during free time and lunch. In this program, I strived to establish a connection with each student. It was important for both myself and the students, to know that they were valued and had an adult they could talk to if needed. I enjoyed watching these students achieve their goals. A few students even went on to be mainstreamed in their home districts.
