I was raised in San Francisco. Like most of my peers (who leaned towards the creative side) I originally saw tech as a threat. My city was changing. It lost its grunge and hippie worldview. I saw an invading force of men who spoke a language of acronyms I couldn't understand. So, I raged against the machine. I worked in coffee shops and hustled. The machine didn't notice. The city around me continued to grow more like an Emerald City by the bay.I ran away to live on a LGBTQ commune in the Oregon forest. I farmed and lived with difficult personalities through frozen winters with wood fire as our heat source. I was doing honorable work, but with little capital in a capitalist nation, my impact on the world was small and I never had enough resources to feel safe. Coming back to indoor plumbing was nice too.Since my family is based in the Bay Area I landed in an entry level role in a start-up. I climbed the ranks at one company and then another to end up as a project manager. Then covid hit. It was time for a change. I chose to lean into a nearly forgotten love of biology and sciences. I went back to school for a post bacc program that would let me go into and health, science, or related field I could want. Now I'm on the look out for my next adventure!
