Living & working in a vibrant border community has deeply shaped my language and social ideologies, serving as a constant reminder of the work still to be done for equality. It underscores the power of collaboration across diverse viewpoints and the importance of seeking mutual understanding. These moments of connection & shared purpose drive impactful change.In my positions with public schools, my commitment to change management & student advocacy shaped every decision. My roles as a teacher, Assistant Principal & as a district leader reinforced my expertise in developing innovative solutions to complex educational problems, always with an eye on data to inform strategy. Carrying that same spirit of commitment of equality and advocacy into the next chapter of my career is of profound personal significance to me.My committee & volunteer efforts along the border have allowed me to engage meaningfully with the community through creative & social initiatives. Through volunteer & board work, I have engaged diverse voices and perspectives. I currently engage in the Barbed Wire Open Mic Series community, fostering dialogue and storytelling in a vibrant, collaborative space. These experiences reflect my commitment to amplifying community voices and driving cultural connections. Collaborative events with artists and writers in my city I have organized have highlighted diverse voices & perspectives, & have brought together community members from all walks of life. Leadership, for me, is about mobilizing and empowering teams to imagine creative approaches , solutions and provide social emotional support. The opportunities I have been afforded have allowed me to build teams that embody these values. Together, we tackle unique challenges and support the diverse needs of our stakeholders, driving progress in our communities and work places.
