• I design base maps and feature layers for Gaia GPS, a premier outdoor recreation navigation application for web and mobile.
• I process open source and proprietary data using a process based on the OpenMapTiles pipeline to create world-wide Mapbox vector tiles
• I write and edit the many PostgreSQL queries to add or modify data in the vector tiles
• I maintain Mapbox stylesheets for over a dozen basemaps based on those vector tiles. Each map has its own product goals while maintaining consistent cartographic brand
• I write and edit makefiles and python scripts that automate the map update process.
• I test all vector tile updates extensively to balance cartographic design and performance optimization.
