Amanda Sutton has more than twenty years experience in marketing, publicity, and persuasive writing within the publishing and bookselling trades. As the longtime marketing and events director at Bookworks, Albuquerque's longest operating independent bookstore, she oversaw hundreds of live and virtual events a year and conducted all marketing, media and public relations for the store including the store website, social media, community partnerships, events, staff picks, donations, and more.At former staff positions at the Univ. of New Mexico and Oklahoma Presses, Sutton crafted promotional campaigns for in-house publications and initiatives, and for the books of numerous distributed publishers in the fields of history, biography, literature, poetry, fine art and photography, and multicultural studies (Chicano, Latin American, and Native American Studies). In 2009, Sutton became an independent literary promoter, launching Ampersand Communications, representing West End Press, Tres Chicas Books, Burning Books, Animist Press, Albuquerque Cultural Conference, Waterford Press, Univ. of Oklahoma Press; Red Mountain Press, Albuquerque Almanac, and writers Demetria Martinez, Nancy Wood, Carlos Contreras, & Will Courtenay.She has worked with authors including Sam Quinones, Rudolfo Anaya, and many, many others as a book publicist.
