  • Rspb
    Partnerships Officer
    Rspb Dec 2022 - Jun 2023
I worked on the Save Our Wild Isles Campaign, the RSPB's joint response with WWF and National Trust to the TV series Wild Isles. I looked at how we could create non-financial partnerships with groups to make the campaign more accessible, inclusive and diverse for communities that haven't been as frequently served by the nature sector. One flagship partnership I created was with Community Integrated Care, a social care provider. Within this we sent seeds to their services to help introduce them to the campaign and getting outside, created resources to support staff and the people they support to do gardening and nature based activities together, and training webinars to allow staff a chance to learn more about how to create nature friendly sensory gardens. I also set up workshops with other organisations, such as Faith for the Climate.
  • Rspb
    Senior Communications Account Manager
    Rspb Dec 2019 - Dec 2022
    Sandy, England, United Kingdom
I looked after some of the high profile campaigns within the RSPB, helping ensure the creative development and execution of the campaigns ran smoothly from start to finish. I worked with various agencies and managed various aspects of the job through. Within this time I worked on Let Nature Sing which got birdsong into the top 20 of the music charts and created a day where hundreds of shops, businesses and community spaces played birdsong to show that we can't let nature fall silent. Within this role I also line managed Account Executives within the team, supporting them with their career aspirations, training requirements and HR processes.

This role was the start of my work in the Account Management team, therefore, it overlaps with my experience for the Senior Account Manager role. Within this role I also line managed Account Executives and high level projects. I would routinely be involved in senior management meetings discussing the campaigns and feeding into these high level, strategic meetings.
  • Rspb
    Policy Officer
    Rspb May 2016 - Dec 2019
    Sandy
Within this role I worked on Connection to Nature policy for the RSPB. This looked into the importance of people connecting and having access to nature. The benefits for this were two-fold, for their own health and wellbeing but also for the benefit of nature as being connected to it meant you were more likely to take action for it too. Within this role I looked at both education and health policy to see how we could best help all ages access and connect with nature. Some of the key elements from the role included:- Creating a bird & nature watching/activity pack with a local Alzheimer's charity for people living with dementia. - An informal literature review of the evidence for the health benefits of nature for people. - Informed government policy on schools having provisions to create green spaces.- Represented the RSPB at various policy/strategy groups, such as the National Outdoors for All Working Group. - Worked with Universities and researchers to explore connection to nature research. - Worked with government officials to help shape country wide metrics to measure connection to nature levels and engagement with nature. - Researched barriers to the natural environment for various underserved communities, such as People of Colour, people with various disabilities or socio-economic factors.
