I am a senior at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) majoring in English with a concentration in professional writing and a minor in communication. My time at UIC has shaped the writer and professional that I am today. As a volunteer tutor at UIC's Writing Center, I had the amazing opportunity to work with students of all majors and grow as an editor and writer. I could not have asked for a better experience for developing my editing skills because with every session, I was assisting with grammar, stylistic choices, and idea development. It was incredibly fulfilling helping others in whatever large or small way possible. I also value the opportunities I've had as a content creator and marketing/publicity director for UIC's online magazine, Her Campus. Besides meeting and working with incredible people, Her Campus has given me a platform to publish original work. Whether it's writing about sports, film, skincare, music, social justice issues, or women empowerment, all of my writing pieces are special because they've helped me grow as a writer. I give my professors and courses a lot of credit for my success because they have prepared me to work in various fields such as publishing, editorial, social media, marketing, public relations, and journalism. Lastly, I have gained invaluable experience as an editorial intern for Flower Bomb Media Group. During my time with Flower Bomb, I have pitched original ideas, conducted interviews, communicated with fellow professionals, and written articles for their magazine, Dreamlette. Learning to interview young celebrities and write for a Gen Z audience have been among the most valuable skills I've acquired. I will forever be grateful to be part of the editorial team and help Dreamlette grow.
