I am currently providing mental health support to folks located in Barrie and surrounding areas. My focus is working alongside people to help them better relate to themselves and their life experiences. I use a combination of IFS and EMDR to help negative beliefs become a thing of the past. I work from the belief that my clients are whole and complete despite what they have lived through. What we work on is alleviating the burdens parts of themselves hold to feel better and foster hope.

Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe Muskoka is a frontrunner for advocacy, support and sheltering of women (in all its inclusivity) for those within the Simcoe Muskoka community and those who have involvement with the law. My role within Elizabeth Fry was as a Mental Health Worker (Student). With a strong focus on Intensive Case Management for ‘high acuity’ participants, my work was inclusive of client-centred trauma-informed mental health supports, with a harm reduction focus, financial benefit acquisition, ID acquisition, accessing medical care (paramedics program, CMHA, RVH and Mamaway), 2SLGBTQIA+ connections and Housing First focused supports in partnership with Empower Simcoe. My focus was to work from a non-individualist approach and call out the systemic barriers women (in all its inclusivity) face and how this impacts personal outcomes.

Turner Counselling Sevices offers one-on-one faith and non-faith-based counselling services to women in Barrie and its surrounding areas. My role was as a clinician in training which provided counselling services to those seeking assistance and partnership. Using a solid client-centred, strengths-based, trauma-informed and Narrative Therapy base, my services sought to create, explore and develop alternate and perhaps preferred stories in the lives of folx. My work aims to de-individualize and de-pathologize and actively take an anti-oppressive stance as a prime focus.

The Busby Centre is a leader and provider of services, advocacy and support for folx experiencing homelessness. They are a leader in macro-level changes needed to create equitable housing availability for all. They are front runners in pushing the envelope around repurposing and recycling spaces and, most recently, shipping containers to service our fellow unhoused community members. They are a fantastic organization!During my time at the Busby, I worked on a community-based research project funded by the County of Simcoe through Reaching Home, which collected, organized and evaluated outreach data from each region of Simcoe County. In partnership with my Supervisor, we created an initial report and work plan outlining findings of what Street-based Housing-Focused Outreach looked like in Simcoe County under the umbrella of the Housing First Mandate. As hands-on connections to this work are important I was also a part of mobile and street-based outreach during my time there.

This coaching works from a solution-focused lens, as many are looking for ways to succeed in their everyday lives as they define that. Coaching looks at partnering with the participants, defining their goals, and looking for ways to get there!
