Community Health Outreach Worker
CurrentConduct outreach to organizations, groups, schools and leaders in communities where the project’s work is based to discuss potential collaboration with the project.· Help recruit and maintain 3 CAT groups of 5-8 ethnically diverse adult LGBTQ+ and allied community members in the cities where the project will conduct its work. Coordinate six yearly meetings for each CAT focused upon leadership and advocacy training and education as well as participation in project activities.· Attend local tobacco coalition meetings in counties where the project’s work is based and take part in coalition activities when appropriate.· Develop educational materials focused on the amount, causes, and impact of tobacco product use upon LGBTQ+ and other vulnerable populations. · Help recruit participants for consumer testing of educational materials created by the project.· Assist with scheduling and participate in meetings with local LGBTQ+ community leaders and organizations that serve a broad range of populations, helping to educate them about the project and inspire their engagement in the work.· Recruit volunteers to participate in community outreach at major events, such as Pride celebrations in multiple cities. Staff the project’s booth and help to manage volunteer’s efforts to conduct surveys and collect petition signatures.· Work with CAT members to develop and maintain the project’s social media presence, utilizing informative and engaging content, and endeavoring to expand its reach. Participate in the analysis of the effectiveness of the project’s social media outreach.· Help to recruit community members to participate in educational meetings with local decisionmakers.· Participate and recruit volunteers to assist with observation surveys of locations potentially impacted by the project’s work.· Help conduct public speaking trainings for CAT members and other volunteers in preparation for educational speaking opportunities with decisionmakers.
