In my role as a Camp Counselor at Camp Twin Lakes, I led a group of girls aged 7-10who had received organ transplants as part of Camp Independence. During my time as a UNC Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Trainee , I had the opportunity to support Dr. Crystal Hayes on her NIH grant proposal focused on reproductive justice and the carceral system, with the ultimate goal of implementing doula programs in jails/prisons. My responsibilities included conducting in-depth literature reviews on doula programs in the carceral system and resilience among Black women in America. This experience allowed me to develop valuable research skills and gain a better understanding of reproductive justice.

Chronic Viral Disease Branch: In my role as an ORISE Fellow in the Chronic Viral Disease Branch, I developed and optimized a library preparation and sequencing protocol for Next Generation Sequencing of HPV DNA from Cancer Tissue.
