Profile bio

About Andi Catt

In 2012, I founded The Call Business and since then have been helping clients increase ROI from the leads that their marketing generates via a range of multi-lingual business development services.I spent the preceding 35 years learning my trade in various sales, marketing & telemarketing roles, latterly driving new biz for agencies.I did some exciting stuff in those 35 years:• I negotiated sponsorship of the EU Presidency by Eurostar. • Was part of the team that won a DMA award.• Wrote ad copy for Orange.• Worked on the launch of Social Brands 100.• As part of a direct marketing campaign, I sent gift-wrapped underwear to the BBC leading to a £70,000 project.• Worked on the launch of RNLI Offshore, liaising with 200+ yacht club Commodores to ‘sell’ them on promoting Offshore to club members. (I volunteered for this and loved every minute of it).• I attended the HR forum and co-presented 39 creds meetings in 4 days alongside the wonder woman who is now our Client Service Director.Whenever the opportunity arose to do something outside my comfort zone, I stepped forward. So, when a former colleague asked me to run a telemarketing pilot for him as proof of concept, reaching out to dormant/lapsed customers of a high-tech industrial business to generate new sales leads, I said yes. The project outcomes exceeded all expectations, and I was asked to deliver a similar project in English, French & German. Next was lead qualification work in Chinese, Japanese & Korean. And so, it went on. Before I knew it, I had quit my day job and was running a global business. Two years on, we delivered a mystery shopping initiative for a client wanting to understand how their global offices handled inbound enquiries. When I presented findings and recommendations, I was co-opted onto a working party to develop a strategic plan to address the identified issues. A key recommendation was customer service training for staff in their global business centres. I anticipated needing to shortlist training providers; instead, I was asked to write a training programme and book some flights! Later that year, I delivered training to staff in Houston, Shanghai and the Netherlands.Fast forward to now, I head a 40-strong team working with clients all around the globe in 20+ languages. When my husband took early retirement, we relocated to rural Andalucía where we live in a hilltop finca with three rescue dogs and six sheep. When not working, I love cooking, entertaining, gardening, reading crime fiction and wakeboarding (which I appreciate is not age-appropriate!).

Listed skills include Social Media, Email Marketing, Crm, Marketing, and 25 others.

Executive Chair And Founder

Current

Córdoba, Andalusia, Spain

As Founder and Executive Chair, I have transitioned from overseeing day-to-day operations to focusing on strategic growth, market expansion, and brand elevation on a global scale. While our senior management team now leads the company’s daily operations, I am committed to driving new business opportunities, fostering key partnerships, and enhancing our presence across international markets. My role centres on guiding our vision, amplifying our market impact, and exploring innovative avenues to expand our reach. With our experienced leadership team at the helm, I’m excited to support our next chapter of growth and success.

Apr 2024 - Present

Managing Director

United Kingdom

The Call Business was born when a former colleague reached out, inviting me to deliver a telemarketing pilot on a freelance basis. The initial campaign, conducted in English, quickly proved successful, which led to additional projects and an expanding scope. Before long, I was handling campaigns in multiple languages, building a skilled multilingual team, and managing operations in my spare time while working full-time. As demand continued to grow and I saw the potential to deliver value at a larger scale, I made the decision to fully dedicate myself to growing the business. Today TCB is a global business development organisation. As the Founder and Managing Director, I’ve channelled my passion for people, relationship building and excellent customer service to deliver an efficient, managed service for business growth throughout the customer life-cycle.Focusing on the B2B sector, we’ve built up a global client base providing a service that bridges the gap between marketing and sales. From the industrial sector to healthcare and technology, we provide outsourced lead qualification and customer engagement solutions in over 20 languages. This wouldn’t be possible without an enviably talented workforce to deliver the best service for our clients. I’ve never been hesitant to bring on board people cleverer than me, so you’ll find team members who are not only from a wide variety of cultures, but a wide variety of backgrounds too, including sales, marketing, digital, HR, data management, retail and engineering. With decades of experience in sales and marketing, I’ve always believed that authentic, natural conversation was the key to building relationships in business. So, rather than working in a call centre environment with rigid scripts, our team work remotely in their home offices and carry out in-depth client research up front to allow them to have credible conversations with our clients’ prospects.I’m so proud of the team and what we achieve for our clients.

I was responsible for prospecting, sales pipeline development, networking for this groundbreaking social media agency, back when social was in its infancy. From it's launch in 2011, I worked on Social Brands 100 which became one of the leading rankings of social brand performance. The initiative monitored hundreds of brands to identify high performers on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.I worked on the research, comms and direct marketing for SB100 in 2012 and 2013 and co-managed the Soho awards events both years.

Jun 2009 - Oct 2013

Southampton, Soho

I was responsible for researching and engaging with key potential clients for the agency and building relationships with them. This included targeting prospects with 'lumpy mail' direct marketing to achieve stand out with the recipients.Within this role, I also attended and presented at the HR Forum. Working with a colleague we delivered 39 30-minute presentations to key HR decision makers over four days. It was probably the most exhausting week of my working life but I learned a huge amount.

Group Connections Director

Southampton, Soho, Santa Monica

Responsible for building relationships for the four agencies of Lawton Communications Group; Five by Five, Five by Five People, Five by Five LA and Headstream

Jan 2009 - Oct 2013

Business Development Manager

Five By Five - Digital Marketing Agency

Southampton

I joined the team at Five by Five (then Lawton eMarketing) to take their new digital offer to market. This was an incredibly exciting time as Amazon and eBay had only just launched and the digital landscape was a brand new adventure. The agency created three ground-breaking products, emails with videos that played on opening, behavioural web advertising and an amazing, interactive desk top avatar. I started out with outbound calls to set appointments for the three divisional heads but as other digital agencies emerged and the market place became more cluttered, I developed ´lumpy mail' campaigns to create standout and get my colleagues in front of their key prospects. The agency was appointed to the BBC Digital Roster, but we were getting no work from them, so i gift-wrapped tiny sexy pairs of knickers and sent them with a note "I've sent you my briefs, now you send me yours' (which was not politically correct but did open doors and got us appointments, briefs and projects).I sent a lemon tree, complete with fruit, to the most senior buyer at Proctor and Gamble, who had refused to take calls for 9 months, and got to speak to her, got referred to one of her team and won a project.
