My life’s passion and drive is to create and learn. From learning a new programming technology to traveling the world, my aim is to absorb as much as I can and then leverage this knowledge to enhance and improve myself and the world around me. As a software engineer, I strive to produce high quality, easily maintainable code that supports not only the business, but also the other engineers I work with. I also aim to follow modern practices such as unit testing, functional testing, CICD and code reviews. As a leader and manager, I seek to be a mentor and example that provides a collaborative team environment and knocks down barriers between people as well as teams. It is critically important to me to be a “lead from the trenches” manager, where at any time I could jump into the code and support to my team. Not only does being this kind of leader enable me to understand the individuals working for me and foster a more cohesive team, but it also incites a unified architectural direction within the group. As a person, I strive to encourage the passions of others both in pursuing their dreams and developing themselves through learning.The working areas of my technical experience are mainly in real-time systems, specializing in graphics and audio. This includes doing physics calculations and calculating any kind of spatial coordinates. Much of my experience is in the games industry where I’ve worked on many different subsystems of a modern 3D game engine, and I’ve also studied the theory behind the subsystems I haven’t worked in to round out my game engine architectural view. I also have a strong background in cryptographic security and performance, both of which were almost my masters’ focus until I decided graphics was the best fit for me. In the last year, I have been exposed to many current web technologies, including Spring, REST, Javascript, JQuery, HTML5, CSS3 and numerous other related technologies and frameworks.
