Andrea Hunt is an architect who maintains an architectonic and artistic practice that responds to ecological and institutional violence in public space. Her work has focused on sites in Central Mexico that embody regional water and sewage crisis, on the contested and vital occupation of Poland and Belarus’ shared primeval forest, and on the cultural impact of state monuments and infrastructure on public space in Warsaw. Her multidisciplinary installations lend a critical eye towards our turbulent built environments and landscapes. She has been a grantee of the American Institute of Architects Martin Roche, Kosciuszko and John W. Kurtich Foundations. Her interventions have been shown in venues such as Ca’ Foscari Zattere, a collateral site of the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale; Fundación Andreani for BienalSur; and Bridgeport Art Center partnering with Chicago Architecture Biennial. In her professional work, she leads with conceptual and historical rigor. She currently designs with Chicago-based architectural office Future Firm, where she works closely with small business owners and community leaders to realize a range of local cultural, commercial, residential, and historic renovation projects through to construction. She has collaborated on thoughtful architectural projects for landmarked buildings in Chicago’s historic Pullman, Bronzeville, Argyle, Wicker Park, Marina City, and South Shore neighborhoods. Her other forensic contributions have been published in the Cambridge Press alongside James Turner’s reconstructive outlook on Peruzzi’s Villa Farnesina.
