I worked for the Hoechst/AgrEvo/Aventis/Bayer group for 29 years, from which I gained a high level of experience in the areas required to fulfil top senior management positions. I have built up considerable expertise in Information Technology, Controlling, Accounting and Finance, Management Accounting, Production Management and General Management. During that time I was based in New Zealand, Germany, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia and again in Thailand.I am a self-starter and am well motivated. My skills with people are well proven. I built up excellent and close relationships with customers and colleagues in Thailand and in the Companies I have run in the past. In November 2008 I joined Suretank (Thailand) in Ban Chang Rayong Thailand. After 5 and a half years I retired in February 2013. I was retained as a non-executive director. I started as Project Manager with Custom Transportable Buildings Pty Ltd of Australia in March 2014. In November 2014 CTB decided not to proceed with the project. In January 2015 I rejoined Vinarco after having worked for them in 2013-2014. My position is Group Managing Director having direct management control over all areas of operations.Specialties: With over 47 years of experience I can analyse businesses and IT systems and processes and redesign all of these to fit the goals of an organisation. I have reorganised businesses in Thailand which have been badly managed, due to any reasons such as corruption etc. I am still a very active Manager and attend networking groups in Bangkok and the Eastern Seaboard. In the Eastern Seaboard I reguarly attend the Eastern Seaboard Directors Club and the Eastern Seaboard Businessmans Dinner meeting top executives from about 100 companies. I am also a member of another valuable focus group EGN networking in Thailand. In 2017 I was tasked by Suretank Ireland to close down Suretank Thailand which had been in "Business Reorganisation" for 2 years (managed by me). On request of the owners I put the company into bankruptcy and the process of winding it up, was completed in December 2019.Managing the Vinarco group is currently my main focus and improving efficiencies in all areas and searching for new business opportunities. After 40 years outside of New Zealand I have decided to return. These plans have been interrupted by Covid so it may happen in 2023.Despite my age I am in good health and looking for something to do full time or part time when I get back.

I was retained as a non-executive director for the remainder of 2014 and remained so until December 2019. Project ManagerCustom Transportable Buildings Pty Limited Mar 2014 - Nov 2014Bang Plee, Samut PrakarnAfter working on this project for 9 months and having located an ideal plot with the Port Authority of Thailand inside Laem Chabang, the investors in Australia decided to cancel the project. The reasons were the deterioration of the economy in Australia, and dropping oil prices which affected the demand for their product.I was the first employee in Thailand tasked with managing the set up a new manufacturing facility for CTB in Thailand. My experience of working in mainly in Thailand for the last 30+ years and in Managing Director positions enabled me to locate a site which would have been ideal to get CTB up and running in Thailand as quickly as possible.

Managing DirectorSuretank (Thailand) Company Limited Nov 2008 - Dec 2013Ban Chang, Rayong, ThailandThis position was based in Ban Chang, Rayong province, and involved managing a BOI promoted company producing DNV 2.7-1 certified steel containers for the offshore oil and gas industry (95% Export). The Company was suffering from sustained bad management and significant corruption, and required a thorough clean up process. It was difficult for the first two years and the process resulted in a number of court cases mainly against former staff and corupt vendors. The top management was replaced with competent personnel, all systems were replaced, and a new accounting system was installed and implemented. The Company was back to profit already in the second half of 2009, however we went through a difficult period with very few orders around April of 2010 complicated by a strengthening Baht. The business improved in October 2010 but a cost reduction project was implemented as the 18-20% reduction because the Euro value in Baht terms could not be compensated fully with price increases due to competition from China. The market for offshore containers improved again in 2012 and the order book was full, but softened again in early 2013. The company employed about 320 persons and over my time there and after the significant changes became a well run and mangaged company. Companies like Suretank (formerly IFS) are not easily managed; this is largely related to the education level, and mentality of the labour workforce coming from rural and eastern Thailand.

Chief Operations OfficerTransearch Nov 2005 - Jun 2007Bangkok City, ThailandThis position involved the management and control of all back office functions and support for the revenue generating effort of all Consultants and Associates. This included management of Administration, IT, Human Resources, Accounting & Finance, including Tax optimisation for the group companies in Bangkok (HQ) and in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore. Extensive legal and accounting restructuring was undertaken. I was also closely involved with contracts and contract negotiation for the Oil and Gas manpower supply business of Vinarco. Non Executive DirectorVinarco Services Group Of Companies 2007 - 2012ThailandThis position was non-executive and as such had no active management role in the Company. Activities were more related to administration and legal matters requiring my signature. -
Managing DirectorTana Netting Co Ltd & Siamdutch Netting Thailand Jul 2007 - Oct 2008Bangkok City, ThailandManagement and control of all aspects of both Companies. Implementation of a new IT system, new Accounting function, as well as ERP and MRP system. The function included management of Marketing and Sales, Manufacturing, Administration, IT, Human Resources, Accounting & Finance, including Tax optimisation for the group of companies in Bangkok (HQ) and in Mauritius and Hong Kong. The Factory was located in a (tax) free zone in Amata Nakorn complex in Cholburi with BOI privileges. The production was quite complex using sophisticated machinery from the US and involved production under a technology contract with Bayer on the chemical aspects and long lasting technologies. Using my extensive experience and personal networks we made a legal restructuring and revived the Tax and BOI status. In the factory, we made a substantial upgrading and redesigned the processes to improve the output. This resulted in an increase between 2- 2.5 times of the former capacity. I also drove a program to diversify the plant capability and to expand the sales range.During my tenure we successfully shut down one of the two manufacturing facilities (Siam Dutch) located in Samut Sakorn, this was necessary due to an inherited and deep seated management failure involving corruption and criminal complications. I put a legal team in place coupled with assistance from Police (from personal contacts) we closed the operation without incident or subsequent complications.Late in 2012 the Company has been closed and the Factory in Amata Nakorn sold.

Country Group Manager Se And Ne AsiaBayer Environmental Science Sep 2002 - Sep 2005Bangkok City, ThailandIn June 2002 the purchase of Aventis CropScience by the Bayer group was completed. Because of this, I moved into the newly named business group Bayer Environmental Science as Country Group SEA manager. In my area, the country managers of Environmental Science reported to me, and I reported to the Region International Manager based in Lyon. Regional ControllerAventis 2000 - 2002Federal Territory Of Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaAs a part of restructuring in Environmental Science and the shutting down of some regional services in Malaysia, I was relocated to Thailand to carry on in the same position as held in Malaysia. Additionally at that time there was the impending purchase of the Aventis CropScience Company by Bayer AG of Germany, it was decided to transfer me back in Thailand whereby I was on the implementation committee to coordinate the takeover of our Aventis CropScience operation by Bayer Thai. My depth of general management experience in the Region and Thailand as well as my familiarity of German HQ’s requirements was very much appreciated in ensuring a smooth transition. -
Regional Controller Asia PacificAgrevo Japan Limited Apr 1997 - Dec 1999Tokyo, JapanI was responsible for the profitable operations of all subsidiaries in the Asia Pacific Region reporting directly to the Regional Manager also based in Japan. I also headed up the Administration, Accounting, Finance, IT and Supply Chain for the Japanese entity. From April 1997 until December 1999, I was in AgrEvo Japan Limited, in the position as mentioned above. This position involved considerable travel as I had regional responsibility for all the functions of Controlling, Accounting & Finance. I was able to reduce working capital and we achieved a much-improved cash flow in the region. In addition, I was successful along with our country management in reducing country costs.I also held the local position as head of Accounting, Finance, Logistics, Purchasing, and IT in AgrEvo Japan Ltd. This area of the company was rather weak and always received unsatisfactory audit reports. As a result, we carried out a business process review and revamped this area of the Company. We successfully re-implemented SAP R3 under my chairmanship.

Managing DirectorAgrevo Thailand Limited Dec 1992 - Apr 1997Bangkok, ThailandIn November 1992, Hoechst AG and Schering AG announced that they would form a joint venture company Hoechst Schering AgrEvo GmbH. I was appointed as Managing Director of Hoechst Schering AgrEvo (Thai) Ltd (later known as AgrEvo (Thailand) Ltd) upon receiving short notice I had the new Company incorporated by 28 December 1992. I was responsible arranging the setup of the new Company’s offices, new computer system, hardware and commercial and accounting software. I was also responsible for our manufacturing facility at Navanakorn Industrial Estate. The total headcount was around 140 persons, around 60 of whom were in production and the remainder in sales, marketing, administration, accounting etc. Within a short period it was functioning efficiently and very profitably. Due to preparations put in when I was a Director in Hoechst Thai and later as Managing Director in AgrEvo, the business was very profitable despite the economic downturn in Thailand. The business was successful and I was promoted to a Regional position in Japan.

Director, And Division Manager Agricultural ChemicalsHoechst Thai Limited Apr 1983 - Dec 1992Bangkok, ThailandAfter working in the headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany for one and a half years I took up the above mentioned position in Bangkok.I was transferred to Thailand with a Hoechst AG (German) contract. I replaced the incumbent Thai management as the agricultural business in Thailand had deteriorated through poor management to the point that the company even considered closing the Plant Protection division. The business was plagued with very low margins, high levels of unusable stocks, and sizeable bad debts. In addition, the customers held Hoechst Agriculture in low esteem. With intensive work from all employees under my leadership, , we turned the business around within 3 years, and in another 2 years it was running at an above average level of profitability. In 1992 Hoechst made a joint venture with Schering AG to form AgrEvo and I took up the position of Managing Director of the Thai subsidiary at that point.
