I'm an editor at a dental marketing company. I oversee the proofing process for our general marketing and I'm the primary content writer for all projects, both internal and external. I ensure standards are met in order to convey a consistent voice, engaging design and clear benefits to both potential patients and clients. I work closely with a design team, web team, as well as a sales team that spans multiple countries. At the end of 2018, I came to Sonoma County, California, to serve as the managing editor of a small group of local newspapers. While there, I managed live coverage of a wildfire that caused the largest evacuation in the county's history, a 25-year flood event and local police emergencies. My team provided ongoing stories that shed light on the housing crisis, hospital board bankruptcies and a school strike. During my tenure, our mission was to provide the reader an experience they could not find anywhere else by keeping a hyperlocal focus with intelligent insight and detailed coverage. Before that, I was an editor and reporter in the Verde Valley of Arizona. I was fortunate to work with a veteran group of journalists who had the patience to work this English major up. As I progressed in the role, I became the lead editor of the Cottonwood paper, was placed in charge of the papers' online presence and continued to develop my storytelling. At both papers, I worked closely with design teams to oversee the development of both print and digital special sections that provided readers an more in-depth look at their community. These publications won accolades from readers and peers alike and were discussed in public forums and taught in schools.I've also created several comics through a small publishing company I created, Family Function Comics. I produced two comics, turning a modest profit on my second attempt. I hired artists and directed script adaptation based on my stories, worked with local printers and sold and designed ads for local businesses. I also worked with other local publishers and contributed short stories.
