Worked in the Cargnello lab group on a project focused on lowering the environmental impact of cement synthesis by substituting limestone with volcanic rock and ash. Completed a master's thesis studying the evolution of fibrous hydration products and their role in determining the mechanical properties of the cement. Performed characterization (SEM, SEM-EDS, XRD, porosimetry) on each cement sample at the 1, 7, 14 and 28-day marks in the curing period to track microstructural and mechanical changes.

Created a model that uses a desired flight profile to calculate the required battery size, specifications, and cost per flight and implemented it to help flesh out a pricing model for the emerging EVTOL industry.Also used a self-designed cost model to evaluate the impact of prospective engineering/production changes with regard to throughput, required facility space, energy usage, and capital expenditures

In the Dauskardt lab group, I focused on techno-economic analysis of perovskite solar modules. I created a bottom-up cost of ownership cost model for the perovskite module production process and used the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s System Advisor Model to calculate LCOE for perovskite solar plants in order to compare with other energy sources and determine perovskites' commercial viability. In the Gu Lab, I used various micro-structural and mechanical characterization techniques (nano-indention, digital image correlation, grain etching, tensile tests, etc.) to study the mechanism of hydrogen embrittlement in high-strength steels.
