Interim Company Secretary for 12 months (2012-2013) with responsibility for >300 companies.Preparation of consolidated Group management accounts, budgets, long-term plans, and commentaries for the Board. Preparation of consolidated statutory accounts.Finance lead on a vendor due diligence process, a prospective high yield bond issuance, and the refinancing of £5.1bn bank debt (2013). Finance lead on the Saga Group IPO (2014), including transitioning the Group accounts to IFRS and preparing the historic track record and prospective plans; liaison with sponsoring banks, lawyers and professional firms to produce the prospectus, analyst presentations, and required reports.

New role created to address quality and consistency issues through a newly-formed Shared Services function with a team of 50+ staff. Responsibility taken from divisional Finance Directors for all aspects of balance sheet control, cash forecasting, and transactional controls and processes; AP and AR for all companies within the group. Responsibility for 5 trading entities with a range of principal activities, including the insurance underwriter (Net Written Premium £215m) and the Group’s £40m central cost base. Responsibility and operation subsequently passed back to divisional teams in 2010, with significantly improved balance sheet, cash flow forecasting, transactional controls and processes, and AP processing backlogs eradicated.

Responsibility for all financial reporting and controls for Saga Services Limited and Saga Personal Finance Limited, adoption and application of accounting treatments, overseeing the financial accounting processes and the management of all audits. Acting responsibility for Finance for 5 months in 2002. Working with the Business Development team preparing feasibility studies, business plans, negotiating contracts and implementing Board-approved products.Delivery of all finance workstreams on a significant change programme. Managed continuous financial change to the transactional front-end systems, including design and UAT. Instrumental member of the steering group and project manager for a new GL system in 2006.Finance lead on the launch of Saga Insurance Company Limited (Gibraltar-based Motor underwriter) in 2003, including business plans, selection and implementation of a claims system and repairer network, new finance team, processes and controls.Development of critical cash flow models, plans and forecasts, and provision of due diligence information to support the sale of the Saga group resulting in a MBO backed by Charterhouse in 2004.

Responsible for a wide portfolio of corporate clients with recurring fees >£400k including paper/print, manufacturing, construction, close-care centres, education and pension schemes.Managing audits, proposals (UK/international), staffing, cost control, billing and revenue collection. Responsible for all pension scheme and education clients of the Maidstone office, including liaison with the FEFC.Member of company-wide training and graduate recruitment delivery team, and student counsellor.

London

Responsible to the senior partner in the London office managing a portfolio of companies of varying sizes spread across a wide range of industries, pension schemes, partnerships, sole traders and a significant number of personal tax clients.Seconded to another office to manage the personal side of a three month tax investigation instigated by the Inland Revenue.

Margate/Canterbury

Training undertaken in the Margate office. Progression from junior to Audit Senior responsible for the work of others, reporting directly to the partner. On qualification, transferred to the head office in Canterbury. Progression to Audit Manager, work focused on servicing and managing audits of corporate clients involved in leisure, construction, retail, farming, travel, English language, and the motor trade.Final role was the management of the senior partner’s portfolio of corporate and solicitor clients managing audits (including for PRP schemes and for Solicitor’s Accounts Rules compliance), preparing management accounts, and providing other assistance as required.
