In September 2022, I joined Warner Music UK as a Finance Intern in the Financial Services team based in Kensington. Reporting to the Finance Managers of our team, my role involves the preparation and presentation of financial statements within tight monthly deadlines, providing financial assistance in the form of profit and loss statements to external partners such as Songkick and WMX Innovation, and supporting the internal forecasting process. This has allowed me to fully utilise the theory and skills learned from my university degree and apply them in the context of a huge multinational company. Moreover, this has given me a unique insight into how one of the largest record labels in the world operates and the importance of ensuring that their financial activities are carefully controlled. Through this role, I have built upon my skills to gain an advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel, as well as becoming proficient in Oracle, Sprinter and BI systems. Since starting my internship at Warner, I have began studying towards the CIMA Professional Management qualification.

Between September 2021 and September 2022, I began working within the flagship branch of End Clothing Ltd, where my primary responsibility included the maintaining and management of the store’s inventory. I was accountable for ensuring that the store floor was adequately stocked with the correct merchandise and that the prices were correctly allocated in line with the products stock turn targets. This allowed me to gain a unique understanding of new line drops, brand popularity and the daily demands within the fashion industry. Within this role, I often had to liaise with head office to ensure that the correct items and quantities of stock were being ordered and delivered to the store as well as being available for ad hoc enquiries. This gave me a perspective of how strategic decisions in head office transpired to the individual stores and how vital effective communication between thetwo parties is to the overall success of the business. Through frequent collaboration and interaction with numerous peers and stakeholders within the company, I acquired a wider recognition of the importance of synergy between each area of the firm. By attending numerous brand launches and showcases, I was able to enhance my knowledge of specific brands and the wider luxury fashion commercial environment. This gave me an exclusive insight into the operations of one of the largest companies within the luxury fashion industry.

Undertook a year long industrial placement as a financial analyst at Northumbrian Water, the main water utility provider for the North-East, Suffolk and Essex. My main role involved the analysis of financial information and data, and summarising my findings in the form of reports available to the Information and Analytics manager of Northumbrian Water Ltd. Working with the site manager of Kielder Reservoir by offering financial advice and strategy to assist with the operational management of one of the biggest man-made artificial lakes and woodland in Europe. Allowed me to gain insight into the operations of a large utilities company and work with staff at a national and local level.
