I work with mission-led organisations that work with young people. My expertise is in developing strategy, improving and measuring impact, and developing new products/services.For me, this is personal. My education took me from primary school in a disadvantaged part of inner London to the University of Cambridge, and beyond. I'm motivated in my work by a focus on ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background.I have worked as a classroom teacher, in consulting, and until recently at The Access Project, a charity that helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to reach selective universities. I took over The Access Project in 2013 when we had a staff of 16 working with 400 teenagers in 11 schools in London, and in five years grew the organisation to 46 staff working with over 1300 students in 31 schools across the country. Just as importantly, we improved the quality of the programme we delivered and demonstrated a significant impact with the young people we worked with: students on the programme were twice as likely to progress to a selective university than peers.I left The Access Project in December 2018, and since February 2019 have been working with charities, social enterprises and multi-academy trusts to support them with strategic projects.
