Responsible for development of in-house Survey Management software which is used to measure the satisfaction of customers of our clients. We currently collect over 30,000 completed surveys each month, and have around 100 surveys live at any one time. All data is collected, stored and processed in line with GDPR.Responsible for the development and maintenance of our own secure file transfer system (think Dropbox-lite), and an on-line reporting and dashboarding tool.I have also worked on the complete rebuild of our on-line panel site, yoursaypays.co.uk. All code written using the Symfony framework and Doctrine ORM. Set up Continuous Integration using Phing and Jenkins. Testing is done using Selenium, Behat and PHPUnit. Version Control with Git, project management with CodeBase and deployment using Capifony.

Responsible for constructing and using WebTAG-compliant Multi-Modal Transportation models, using SATURN, CUBE, Voyager, Paramics and Trips.

Leeds

Undertook all manner of transport modelling and appraisal work. Main highlights were;* developing a demand forecasting spreadsheet tool for rail projects which attempted to predict changes in rail usage over time in response to proposed interventions. This was used to assess Franchise bids for the Strategic Rail Authority and to prepare funding bids for new rail projects.* becoming proficient in the use of SATURN, TRIPS and Paramics for highway modelling. Developed various tools to assist in the running of such models and in the extraction of results from them. Developed a ridiculously complicated modelling framework that ran TRIPS models from within Microsoft Excel!* used Paramics to model the impacts of Managed Motorway scheme on the M4 in South Wales - now known as Smart Motorways. This involved wrestling with the specifications for such schemes and using SIAS's Managed Motorway module for Paramics.

Undertook traffic modelling of the Wetherby-Walshford section of the A1(M), and performed the economic appraisal using COBA and QUADRO.Adapted the Leeds SATURN model to take into account a proposal for a modified outer ring road.Worked on the traffic data collection for the A453 Multi-Model Study

Edinburgh, United Kingdom (For Now)

Started off by undertaking the economic appraisal of a new junction on the A90 at Inchture, using the NESA program. The junction has subsequently been built, so the economics must have added up.Worked on the Before-and-After Monitoring report for the M77 extension through Glasgow - this involved analysing masses of traffic count data.Undertook traffic surveys which usually involved standing around in the freezing cold counting cars and/or pedestrians, or timing traffic lights.Also learnt to use Paramics, and helped with testing new versions.

Thesis, titled New Methods for Steady-State Traffic Assignment, looked at novel methods for solving the traffic assignment problem.

Industrial placement at British Nuclear Fuels plc. This was spent investigating Monte Carlo techniques for use in a new nuclear collision.
