Andrew has developed a custom configurator to allow complex calculations to be entered for AHDB's benchmarking application by non-technical members of staff. He's also been solely responsible for the Potato Data Capture software, allowing for industry wide sampling and data analysis across the entire UK potato sector. Andrew has also been a instrumental in providing advice and guidance as the team has moved into an agile way of working.

Andrew worked to deliver two Social Care management platforms, for short- and long-term care. Here Andrew developed using .NET Core 2.0, Angular 6 and a range of microservices to allow interaction with a legacy system to be exposed publicly, whilst also maintaining a high-security level for personal and sensitive data.Here Andrew also worked to improve the SCRUM methodology throughout the team, participating in all the events and running several events including introducing a Sprint 0 and project level retrospective, both of which have had a positive significant impact in the delivery of the team.

Here Andrew has increased uptime and reliability whilst gaining confidence and trust from the client.• Site downtime reduced from a weekly occurrence to a current 2 month on-going uptime.• Speed increases site wide, lowering page load times from 5 seconds to around 2 second average.• Re-architecture of fundamental area of the site highlighting key funds and investments.• Management of a complex Sitecore 6.5 .NET 4.0 C# solution.

Here Andrew developed his skills to produce sites for several large clients to short timescales, was involved across the full project life cycle, and subsequent enhancements for the clients.• Initially Andrew worked alongside the client team to deliver the Wellcome Trust commercial website, co-ordinating disparate team members to provide a C#.NET CMS solution. He also led the specification and set up of the live stack of Windows IIS servers.• Andrew then worked with Barclays to deliver their Money Skills site, utilising the Sitecore CMS to develop various content templates. This C# work was well received by Barclays and resulted in Reading Room winning additional project work from them.• After the delivery of the main Money Skills site, Andrew expanded the functionality to encompass the Money Skills Weeks project. Andrew developed a system allowing users to register, be approved by an administrator, and then extending the user profile to store additional information based upon their form submissions. Alongside this development Andrew created an administration and export function so that an external partner could manage and organise the service delivery personnel, teachers. This automated the process and so doubled the service capacity without increasing costs.• Andrew is delivered an Umbraco C#.NET MVC solution to streamline queries to the Housing Ombudsman who, due to a recent legislation change, expected queries to increase by around 300% and wishes to utilise web solutions to manage the increase.

Andrew joined Warc to help re-develop their main product (www.warc.com), a subscription service site supplying research and journal papers on marketing. His VB.NET work was instrumental in the technical design and delivery of this project as he took an active role in all key deliverables.• The new web application showed a 20% increase in billable downloads with excellent feedback (87% of users surveyed quoted the site as an “excellent” or a “very good” experience) and a more visible search presence;• Andrew incorporated Endeca search technologies, not just as a search interface for the site but also to provide targeted content based on user roles; this involved working with external Endeca consultants and adapting Warc’s systems to best utilise their product;• He developed a way for users to extract specific, relevant information from Warc’s comprehensive data archive. This involved a large amount of database design and processing to return the users required information within a reasonable time;

Here Andrew developed commercial software using C# and VB .NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005. His work was focused on extending the facilities of the core packaged software, Condeco, which is an all-in-one intranet-based solution for desk booking, meeting room booking and fit-out (e.g. requires projector, flip chart) requests, visitor management, car park booking, event management and digital signage.• He created an international version of Condeco, designing and developing the user interface to handle 5 different languages, using custom input files and server cache management;• Andrew also developed an electronic signage facility, which directs attendees to their meeting room. This displays on a custom built unit, a 40” plasma screen.

Final Year University ProjectMy final year project evaluated the feasibility of producing a numerical weather prediction system for a personal computer by applying methods to statistically adjust predicted values to achieve a more accurate result. This project spanned the full development lifecycle.I analysed and designed the software using OOD techniques, including Requirements Capture, Use Cases, Sequence and Class Diagrams. The project was then implemented in C# .NET 3.5 with a SQL Server 2005 database of over 1 million rows. An ASP.NET user interface was built to allow the user to control and adjust the model. This application was tested fully for browser compatibility, AAA accessibility standards and accuracy of the output. The entire three month development project was comprehensively documented in a 120 page report.

Andrew spent 15 months as a C#.NET Developer working on websites for their main client, Mazda Europe, taking on more responsibility with each step:• Initially, he used Content Management Systems EpiServer and MCMS, formatting the content in HTML and publishing it through development and test environments to live;• Andrew then started working in C# ASP.NET v2.0, fixing bugs on the CMS templates and forms for Mazda’s live sites;• He then moved onto project work and was given the responsibility of developing complete sections (e.g. Finance andInsurance) of the websites from scratch, taking specifications, developing and testing his code to tight deadlines and stringent quality standards. His work included building multi-page forms and templates, including site usage tracking, logging to a database using query strings.• Consequently, Andrew was chosen to be the lead developer maintaining the new website, www.mazda2.com. Here, he fixed all reported bugs for a six month period, and continued to build new sections and forms too, enhancing the site.
