Bio-Rad is manufacturer of lab instruments and reagents/consumables with a focus on providing entire workflow solutions. I currently manage academic, research, and biopharma accounts in the Southeast and Great Lakes regions.President's Club 2014 and 2015
Sales And Marketing
My time at BioLegend started during my last two years at college and continued on for another three years afterwards. Since it was a relatively smaller company at the time, I was able to broaden my horizons by working in a variety of capacities. My career there can be divided into three distinct roles:Marketing (2008-2010)I started by managing Google AdWords and Microsoft Bing Ad campaigns in multiple languages, but also got a chance to exercise my creative, analytic, and organizational muscles by implementing unique promotions, conducting market research, and coordinate product/marketing shipments to international subsidiaries and distributors.E-Procurement and Bulk/Custom Antibody Sales (2010-2012)Many academic institutions began converting to automated electronic purchasing channels during this period; BioLegend sought to capitalize on the opportunity, and I helped spearhead the effort to establish e-procurement supply agreements with top universities and research facilities. After the initial wave of high value institutions had been secured, my responsibilities came to include negotiations for bulk/custom antibodies requests from across the US. I also overhauled BioLegend's SalesForce CRM and developed new best practices for its use.Account Management (2012-2013)While retaining my bulk/custom antibody responsibilities, I also started managing BioLegend accounts in Texas. I traveled to Texas every other week to meet with existing customers and develop new leads and contacts. I also coordinated with the FlowTex committee, the governing council for flow cytometry cores in Texas, to host week-long series of technical seminars by BioLegend in-house experts on advanced multicolor flow cytometry techniques in Houston, Galveston, and Dallas.
Bookseller
I worked as a cashier and customer service representative at Barnes & Noble during my winter breaks from college. This opportunity provided me with valuable customer-facing responsibilities during the fast pace of the holiday season.
Medical Assistant
I assisted Dr. Ronald Worley, DPM, during patient primary care and non-invasive surgical procedures, and became acquainted with the front and back office duties of a small clinic setting. I learned to handle everything from insurance verification, chart prep, and patient intros to multi-dose injection prep, surgical prep, ultrasounds and x-rays. I'm also familiar with sterile surgical technique, x-ray development, orthotics molding, plaster casting, ultrasonic instrument sterilization, and surgical pack preparation.
Research Assistant
The Vila-Sanjurjo group of the Bustamante Lab at the then-new Synthetic Biology Division was attempting to rationally design a synthetic minimal cell using a mitochondrion as the basis for a new organism. I was involved in the initial phase of the project, and successfully created a viable high-copy E. coli strain transfected with a vector engineered to include the mouse mitochondrial genome.
Research Assistant
The Kim Lab at the Structural Genomics Center sought to determine the functional place of specific gene products in various cellular pathways by ascertaining the three-dimensional structure and folding patterns of the encoded proteins. I was responsible for developing ideal buffer systems for the crystallization of these purified proteins, and screening these crystals for quality via microscopy and dynamic light scattering before sending the proteins to LBNL's Advanced Light Source for structural analysis.
