Following undergrad at Michigan, I joined a small law firm as an assistant and continued working there while attending GW Law, and, in what must be the shortest partnership track in Washington, was made a partner of the firm upon passing the bar exam. I then helped the firm morph from an entertainment law practice to one representing technology companies, including United Therapeutics (UT). As part of the founding team at UT, initially as outside counsel and eventually as a full-time employee, I represented the company in both legal and business roles - Chief Strategy Officer, Deputy General Counsel, SVP of Investor Relations, head of business development, and more - including responsibility for all aspects of corporate legal needs, M&A, business development, corporate strategy, media and investor relations, litigation management, contracts, and intellectual property. While at UT, I helped grow the legal department from two people to fifteen, built and managed the corporate risk management department, designed and implemented the company's patent strategy including the successful defense of patents covering key products, created and oversaw the company's compliance department, and managed the M&A process for hundreds of potential acquisitions. I joined Verona Pharma as General Counsel in March 2024.
