Yosemite

I was training to become the festival manager. It all changed when the Rim Fire burned down the site we rented in Yosemite. This is a great family festival.

As Science Camp Director I collaborated with over 30 different stakeholders to create a program focused on Forestry, Wildlife Biology and Marine Ecology. A few of the more notable stakeholders were the U.S. Forest Service, Humboldt State University, Redwood Science Labs, N.O.A.A., Sierra Pacific Lumber and Green Diamond Resources.

Field Instructors assume responsibility for the planning and implementation of field- based environmental education programs at residential Outdoor Science School sites.

The first half of the year involved working directly with a Site Teacher Educator, after winter break the placement became full time.

Greater Salt Lake City Area

Plan, direct, coordinate, and budget, activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of pool, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation.

Supervision of Aquatic Coordinators in the development and management of major program areas in aquatic. Maintains accurate and up to date program and facility schedules for specific areas that maximize the efficient use of facilities, equipment, and staff. Develops, monitors and controls program and budgets to assure positive financial outcomes. Establishes training and certification programs appropriate to staff responsibilities.

To plan, direct, and supervise all camp programs and staff.

Green River, Utah

Serve as whitewater-rafting guides on both paddle and oar rafts. Primarily multi-day whitewater rafting trips on the Colorado, Green and Yampa Rivers. Guide's primary responsibility is to safely entertain with our guests, seeking to provide the best possible vacation experience. Guides are members of a dynamic high quality company which emphasizes quality, customer service and teamwork.

I was doing mostly maintenance with a small amount of interpretation. I was at a small National Monument called Hovenweep over the winter very low visitation. The monument was getting ready to celebrate its 75 anniversary that coming spring.

I drove a Zamboni amongst emptying garbage cans and a bunch of other stuff. But to be honest driving a Zamboni is cool. I was young and in charge of the whole facility.
