Assistant Professor Of Media Arts

In my first 5 years at RMU I produced 28 pieces of scholarship. These works have been presented and exhibited nationally in 15 US cities from New York, NY to Cupertino, CA, and internationally in Istanbul, Turkey and Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. My game-related art has been highlighted in multiple group shows like Learn to Play, as well as solo shows like Just Play. My collaborative projects have been exhibited in various group shows like PIXILERATIONS [7], and the project SOYAball won a <terminal> award. In addition to scholarly activities, I have developed curriculum for the Web Design Concentration and created a Web Design Minor. I shifted the focus from Web Design to the broader field of Interaction Design. This change is forging the path for interdisciplinary concentrations between departments and schools.I developed and co-chaired the first Community Design Workshop (CDW) with Jon Radermacher. Committee members select our top students to participate in the CDW, then I guide these students through the process of working with a client and producing a polished product that reflects the needs of both the client and audience. I have been involved in 4 CDW's.In further service to the University, I have participated in 10 committees. Each helped to further curriculum development, refine the University’s mission and vision, add to the culture of campus life through exhibitions, and engage students in faculty-directed design projects. In particular, I was elected Chair and Coordinator of the Gallery Committee in 2012. In collaboration with the Committee, I organized 7 exhibitions a year. I helped initiate the student Gallery Club. The Club helps with gallery events and exhibitions and provides members opportunities to attend field trips to museums as well as curate their own annual exhibition under my guidance.
