About Andrew Mendoza

"Sucking at something is the first step towards being sorta good at something."It took me some time to learn how to fail faster, but I'm getting the hang of it - and I'm ready to bring that mentality with me as I look to start my career as a UX Designer.Though I'm currently working as a CADD drafter specializing in 2D AutoCAD, I'm a designer at heart. After first learning about Norman doors (a cliché start, I know), my desire to create products and experiences that are enjoyable and make sense hasn't ever gone away.During my time as the CADD Specialist at a very small consulting engineering company, I've nurtured an eye for detail, consistency, and layout. I've refreshed existing office design system standards of formatting and layouts for specifications and equipment schedules to ensure information is laid out consistently across all trades of drawings for a project. I've adjusted our office AutoCAD text and leader styles to allow for uniform visuals and labeling across various drawing scale. I've created or adjusted equipment blocks to enable scalable symbols across all our drawings, to ensure visibility and readability in various sheet sizes and layouts.Outside of design, I hone my acceptance of failure through cooking, climbing, and leathercraft. Each has its own signs of failure, but exploring my passion for all of them has allowed me to become more comfortable with that failing - and more importantly, improving upon those failures and learning from them.
