Responsible for:• To take overall responsibility for the coordination of all strategy, policy and performance related to the ‘Get to Zero’ agenda and ensure that effective strategic business and financial planning is deployed to support this. • Form or strengthen or participate in local, regional and national partnerships for effective delivery of key actions identified within the ‘Get to Zero’ Strategy and Action Plan.• Be responsible for managing the provision of specialist services to deliver carbon reduction and adaptation across the East Renfrewshire area. • Lead the team that will deliver the Council’s ‘Get to Zero’ Strategy and Action Plan.Duties include:• Develop, plan and coordinate on the extensive programme of works required to achieve Net Zero working closely with colleagues across the Council to achieve this. • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to set in motion the Council's carbon reduction and adaptation ambitions and to develop East Renfrewshire’s green economy.• Lead on the development and delivery of performance management frameworks ensuring that internal mechanisms support process. • Ensure that the services are performing against carbon reduction targets, putting in action plans to address shortfalls. • Lead on and support the roll-out of a climate impact assessment framework to ensure that all decision-making is based on evidence.• Lead financial planning and contribute to the formation of people and financial strategies to deliver on the Get to Zero agenda. • Support the process of development of business cases for key capital and revenue investments being made across the Council, including informing the Capital Investment Strategy. • Be responsible for managing project teams and specialist services delivering on ‘Get to Zero’ related projects and initiatives, including coordination of multiple, related projects and workstreams.

Climate Ready Clyde (CRC) is a cross-sector initiative funded by fifteen member organizations and supported by the Scottish Government to create a shared vision, strategy and action plan for an adapting Glasgow City Region.

• Managing a diverse team of specialists, providing coaching and leadership across topic areas covering waste management, circular economy, net zero, energy efficiency, economics, life-cycle-assessment, circular procurement, workforce skills, sustainable procurement, and waste data. • Commissioning research to support policy objectives of Scottish Government’s Zero Waste and Energy strategies. • Leading on international engagement and intelligence sharing across the UK and Europe. • Supporting Scottish Government’s legislative programme with technical reports, impact assessments and expert advice.• Collaborating with strategic partners to support organisational objectives to achieve added value. Achievements - Led 'Waste Targets Route Map' project, leading ZWS/Scottish Government/SEPA group and matrix managing internal group of 10-12 technical leads. - Managed team submitting recommendations to Scottish Government for Circular Economy Bill.

Transforming Zero Waste Scotland is key to our ambition to lead Scotland to use products and resources responsibly. With around 80% of Scotland's global emissions coming from the production, consumption and waste of the things we buy, responsible consumption and production, as part of a circular economy, will be a vital step to reducing the impact on the environment. Supporting our dynamic, respected and solutions-driven organisation to become even more influential, working at pace and scale to achieve even greater impacts is the focus of my work in this role. We are changing the way we plan and deliver our work, evolving our relationships with partners and stakeholders, doing more with the money we have available and supporting our staff to develop expertise.

Working with the Executive Team, the Board, staff, close partners and our funders, I am responsible for the drafting, publication and communication (internal and external) for Zero Waste Scotland's Corporate Plan 2019-2023. The new plan will drive the transformation of the business as we seek to become more influential in leading Scotland to a circular and resource efficient future.

Managing the Research & Policy Support Programme, which requires close co-ordination with stakeholders, Scottish Government funders and Senior Management team to deliver the evidence and insights for the circular economy, resource management and resource efficiency strategies in Scotland. Managing a team including: Economist, Environmental Analyst, Workforce Development Specialist, Sustainable Procurement Specialist and Waste Data Specialists to ensure the Scottish Government and Zero Waste Scotland are supported with relevant and accurate evidence. Liaising with other nations and European partners to maintain Scotland's profile as a leader in Circular Economy policy.

Managing the programme of support and funding being delivered to Scottish local authorities to assist with the delivery of improved recycling and waste management in line with the Scottish Government's Zero Waste Plan and Waste (Scotland) Regulations 2012.
