Bids were received from a number of parties including leading consultancy companies. He won the contract on the basis of his tender, presentation, interview and negotiation. Implementation required liaison with a multitude of government agencies e.g. DOH. He also supplied customised versions of the system to other NHS agencies - the National Care Pathways Association and the Royal College of Nurses - demonstrated at international conference. This service has been commended by the Department of Health and Modernisation Agency as a tool for ‘assisted wheel re-invention’, enabling locally validated know-how to be shared and disseminated across the service.
