Apr 2014 - Present

Research Scientist Sr.

Goodyear, Arizona

Senior Research Scientist in the Optical MASINT group working primarily on Research and Development projects involving EO and IR signal processing. Worked with many business units throughout Lockheed Martin. Lead integrator on numerous project focusing on both hardware and software systemsLead developer and integrator on airplane mounted two axis gimbal collection platform. Created a real time collection system with the flexibility to meet requirements for several missions, by integrating hardware devices, including an INS/IMU, GPS, Gig-E/CameraLink EO and IR Cameras, and high speed capture COTS SSD RAID. This collection platform has been used on many projects on dozens of successful missions in numerous configurations.-Created an EO/IR autofocus algorithm and solution to handle the unique problem of trying to determine the optimal focus on a changing target/scene while flying.-Developed automated post processing chain to automatically georectify imagery based on collected support dataResponsible for planning and leading several collection missions involving multiple sensor payloads, air vehicles, ground vehicles and pedestrians in many different scripted scenarios.Designed sensor calibration techniques for EO and IR cameras to include lens distortions, flat field calibrations and non-uniformity corrections.-Mapped out non-linear pixel response curves and vignetting of EO camera using integrating spheres and radial lens distortions using checkerboard targets.-Mapped out NUC response and vignetting in MWIR cameras using black bodies. Created an innovative thermal target in order to map out the radial lens distortion for IR cameras.Worked with multiple detection, tracker, and track linking algorithms on both EO and IR data-Developed a Track Before Detect algorithm for extremely low SNR data.-Experience using Brown University, GE, Cox Tracker, and Orincon tools. -Assessed reliability of detection and tracking capabilities using PD, PFA, and MOPS tools.
