Achievements: Creation of an IoT based company with over 1000 customers and growing. Market entry of the pinpointpal gps tracker, the most cost effective tracking solution in the market today. Delivery of a mobile and web app experience to support the pinpointpal brand. A range of innovative features including Mileage Alerts, Incident Alerts, tracker Sharing, Movement Alerts.

Responsibilities: Managing a department of over 40 staff and a budget of c£3M
Developing divisional strategy; Identify gaps in service provision, develop solutions to fill those gaps; Building long term strategic relationships, including those with the European Commission, Innovate UK, Dept BEIS, regional universities, European Space Agency and Local Enterpirse Partnerships. Directly manage key programme, project and service contracts and associated day-to-day operations; Prepare delivery plans, budgets and control delivery within approved budgets and timescales. Ensure outputs, income, expenditure and margin were delivered to profile; Pursue and win new contracting opportunities. Develop and pilot new commercial products and services. Manage and develop direct reporting staff, setting operational targets for teams and performance manage their achievement; Develop a learning culture within the team.
Achievements: In a very challenging public sector environment, secured an additional three years of EEN funding from the European Commission (£1.8M project); contract to deliver Superfast Broadband to rural areas (£500K); contracts to deliver range of coaching programmes to business (c£1M); Merging Enterprise Europe Network’s Information Team in to the International Trade Centre team; Harmonising contract delivery targets across three specialist adviser teams; Transition of the Enterprise Europe Network over to Innovate UK.

Responsibilities: Managing a team of over 10 staff and a budget of c£1M.
Directly manage key programme, project and service contracts and associated day-to-day operations; Develop a learning culture within the team.
Achievements: Won, managed and delivered the first 3 years of the European Commission’s EEN contract (£2.4M). Joint delivery of PSC’s first ever 5 year strategy; Implementation of new commercial services from within the Innovation Team. including; Development of the Ignite brand and subsequent Ignite Intellectual Property Service (£60K of income in it’s first year of operation); A Technology Road Mapping Service (£40K of income in its first year of operation); Adding value to the Chamber of Commerce offering by setting up a system to alert Chamber members of business opportunities from around Europe; A service to review Grant for Research and Development applications from Chamber members (and others). Merging project specific marketing and event resources in to the Business West marketing and events departments; Integrating the European Commission’s Tender Alert Service in to the Chamber of Commerce;

Responsibilities: Building technology partnerships between UK and European companies, Facilitating technology based licensing agreements, Managing a technology assessment programme, Managing an intellectual asset assessment programme, Delivering workshops on intellectual asset management, Delivering workshops on intellectual property, Chair of a European wide aerospace group, Providing information on European funded R & D, Delivering projects to a range of performance indicators, Writing content for EU bid applications, Writing Ideas and Concepts as part of the Company’s Business Planning Process.
Achievements: 50+ organisations trained on intellectual property, 200+ companies signed up to the South West Technology Watch Service, 20+ technology assessments undertaken on South West Companies, 12 Intellectual Asset Assessments completed for South West companies, 10 partnership agreements facilitated, Founding the South West Technology Audit Group, £2.4M Enterprise Europe Network contract secured.

Responsibilities: Organise company missions to Europe, Arrange Intellectual Property Workshops, Participate in EU wide business partnering events, Organise international partnering events for businesses, Participate in European industrial sector groups, Deliver presentations, Undertake marketing activities.
Achievements: Set up and run an Innovation Relay Centre (IRC). The role of the IRC was to facilitate trans-national knowledge and technology transfer. Part develop Connect-2-Ideas, a pilot project investigating knowledge and technology licensing good practice, between large multinational corporations and small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs). Part of the team that co-organised the first European BioTech Investment Forum in Lyon, now part of BioVision. The aim was to develop the capacity of start up businesses to raise innovation capital.
