The question is “how did I get to be in charge of Andy OnCall Home Repair and Remodeling on the North Shore, from working for a $1 billion-dollar company as V.P. Finance and Administration for all of the Asia Pacific area?”I could say I followed my passion for home repair that would not leave me alone even while I worked for a huge firm in Asia. While I do love and have a knack for home repairs, the truth and answer is the two jobs have a lot in common:• Leadership, organizing and running a business.• Assuring the highest level of customer service.• Getting the best possible performance from your employees (My craftsman are amazing and dependable).• Honesty in relationships with customers and craftsmen (Eagle Scout ethics).• Multi-tasking. In Asia, I handled three different jobs, my Andy OnCall craftsman have many skills to tackle multiple tasks in one day.• My background is in Finance, so I value saving my customers time and money. Granted, remodeling a bathroom or kitchen, repairing drywall, or building a deck is not quite on the same plain as Origami, but all the things we do in terms of home repair do take finesse and meticulous attention to detail.In recent years, the home repair field has been largely dominated by craftsmen who rarely have the wherewithal to run a business with employees and provide the level of service the Chicago and North Shore market demand.
