Working at Catholic Charities, it was my primary responsibility to provide resources to homeless women and children. On average, I completed 25-30 intakes weekly. As the first point of contact, in person and on the phone, I quickly learned how to navigate community resources in order to locate shelter for our displaced individuals. At Mosaic Community Services, I was responsible for providing individualized job development and job coaching to adults with mental health disabilities. I managed a caseload of 9; however, as the only employment specialist for my department I was responsible for assisting any of our 120 enrolled members who may have been interested in supported employment. 50% of my day was spent in the community speaking with employers to learn their company needs. In doing so, I was able to form positive relationships with community employers and obtain competitive employment for 100% of my case load.As Community Support Specialist at New Pathways, Inc. I worked with 17 participants, ages 17-21, in the Maryland Foster Care and /or Juvenile Services system. It was my responsibility to teach the participants life skills modules pertaining to community living, home management and financial stability. I worked directly with participants to establish goals; encouraging the youth to work towards self-sufficiency and independence.Being an enthusiastic individual committed to strengthening people to their full potential, I am a person who enjoys helping others with their needs.
