Anjana Kothamachu is a visual artist, psychologist and expressive arts therapist.In her art, Anjana explores the internal landscape of the human mind, the nature of being, and the structure of emotions and thoughts. The relationship between the internal psyche of the individual and the external world; how these forces shape the individual and the resultant states of being. These explorations shape as drawings, object, video and audio installations.Anjana has been part if residency programmes including The Last Ship, Mumbai; Stiftung Futur Foundation, Switzerland; Sandarbh International Artists Association’s Residency; Khoj, International Studio & Curatorial Program,ISCP New York; and Prohelvetia Switzerland and received the Inlaks Fine Art Award. She installed a large-scale outdoor sculpture at the India Art Fair. She has been part of the Creative India Public Art Intensive; the Changwon Sculpture Biennale, Korea; Responsive Curating (Germany). Anjana as a practicing psychologist incorporates art to facilitate exploration, healing and rebuilding of the self. She witnesses and holds a safe space, allowing for these intimate psychological processes to unfold. Her approach is informed by existential, psychodynamic, systemic and trauma-informed ideas.
