    As Rural Futures- Knowledge and Advocacy, I worked on Rural Future program expansion strategies and operations. During this time, I specifically focused on further strengthening the habitat restoration program targeting about 4000 hectares alongside creating sustainable businesses worth INR163 Million. Through the RuFu Flagship Program, I also contributed towards generating about 5 Million of Natural Capital stocks impacting 8500+ individuals. Following are the major accomplishment during my tenure – • Designed. set-up and operationalized a climate resilience building program to help communities across Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh collaborate with the government and other stakeholders in tackling the accelerating climate crisis in the Himalayan region. • Prepared grant proposals and liaised with corporate bodies for funding opportunities. • Co-designed the Rural Futures Index, a wellbeing and impact measurement matrix• Developed research based knowledge products on natural capital & its assessment & evaluation, the concept of NaturenomicsTM and its application in business sustainability and rural economy settings• Contributed to key reviews of proposed policy amendments regarding forests, environmental impact assessments & disasters in Assam and proposed policy alternatives that were shared with the MoEFCC, as well as the Chief Minister of Assam.

    As part of the United Nations Environment Program team collaborating with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, I worked on documenting the significance of deploying Natural Farming practices in mitigating the effects of climate change and supporting agro-biodiversity, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. During my tenure as a Research Fellow working alongside the Climate Change division of the Rythu Sadhikara Samstha, I accomplished the following deliverables - • Successfully conducted a research study with 500 farmers in 4 districts of Andhra Pradesh documenting how natural farming as a policy has helped mitigate the effects of climate change, restore landscapes and impacted farmer’s income• Created a case study underlining the threats and opportunities of deploying natural farming practices as a policy in dealing with the climate induced exigencies especially on the agriculture sector• Engaged with partner organizations like ICRAF, GEF, Azim Premji Philanthropy, BNP Paribas on charting a blueprint for comprehensive implementation of the ZBNF policy especially ensuring strong market linkages for farmer’s agro-products. • Developed different project-related communication materials including articles, write-ups, and infographics, etc.

    Kaziranga-Karbi Anglong
    - Successfully conducted a research study with 40/70 households in one of the fringe villages of Kaziranga National Park to assess their fuelwood dependency of the community. The research aimed at understanding the fuelwood consumption patterns and develop interventions to reduce this dependency and introduce energy-efficient measures in the village. - Successfully documented the traditional knowledge systems of the Karbi community in Karbi Anglong, Assam. The research intended to document the oral traditions around ethnobotany and use this information to create databases pertaining to traditional healing practices using natural herbs. The objective was to develop a list of important hebs, plants and trees and prioritise their conservation.
