Aircraft Technician
Current(part of The Brooklands Aircraft Factory and Race Track Revival Project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund) Working on unusual projects to help restore some of Brooklands’ museum historic aircraft to their former glory, primarily the Vickers Vanguard but also the Vickers VC10 Sultan of Oman & Concorde which are all displayed in the museum outdoor Aircraft Park. This means being hands-on, mainly working outside and involves working at heights. I am continuously learning about aircraft maintenance and restoration that will help preserve these important aircraft for our future generations. I am working alongside and supervising a volunteer workforce, enabling me to learn a lot from their experience both with tools and artefacts, as well as having both internal and external training courses. With Brooklands being a working museum, there is a need to be flexible within our roles, which could also include carpark / customer liaison duty during busy events to repairing and restoring other exhibits such as the stairway canopy for Concorde.
