As an engineer, I thrive when I am solving technical problems. This and facilitating smooth workflow through different people and departments, gives me a firm feeling of accomplishment.Growing up in a small town, pretending to be Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge from Star Trek: The Next Generation (complete with banana clip visor), was probably what planted the seed toward my career. It was my favorite show and the chief engineer was my favorite character to pretend to be. While my goals varied through those later teenage years, I ended up at NCSU studying Mechanical Engineering.As a finder of information, I strive to connect with specialists and other colleagues to learn about designs within the industry. I find it important to dig in and understand the different standards, materials, and applications and how they have changed over the years.Working with inside sales, I help make technical information easier for them to communicate with customers about products and solutions. One of my strengths is coordinating with other teams to manage and complete projects.When I am not working, I am in a belly dance class or learning the banjo. I have big dreams to one day be moderately proficient in both. I also visit my family as often as I can. We are a very tight-knit group and moving to Raleigh after so many years of knowing nothing but a small mountain town was a hard shock. I survived.
