Student Support, Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) support is available for families of children, from birth to six years of age, who have a disability or a developmental delay.Parents of children, below school age, can refer their children directly. Doctors, teachers, therapists, community health professionals or child- care staff are also able to refer with parental consent by contacting the local regional office.As an Early Childhood Intervention Education Advisor I provide a family focused approach in supporting children and their families or caregivers to maximise educational outcomes. Any young child or student who has a disability or developmental delay that impacts on learning is eligible for ECI service.I support the child and family in settings such as home, playgroup, family day care, early childhood education and care centre, preschool or transition class.I collaborate with service providers in the identification of children with additional needs teaching, learning and management strategies information on specific disabilities support for families developmental information covering the areas of physical, cognitive, language and emotional and social development child assessment information regarding developmental progress assistance with program planning for the individual needs information on support and disability services planning entry into preschool and transition facilitating access to educational programs modifying and adapting activities and curriculum participating in EAP meetings or review meetings at the request of the school working directly with a young child or student during observation and assessment.I can offer consultative support to students in any educational placement.
