I graduated from Pomona College in May 2024 with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Politics. I studied abroad in Seoul at Yonsei University my junior year, subsequently writing my senior paper on female subjectivity in the South Korean cosmetic surgery market through a Foucauldian lens.I study how the well-being and autonomy of specific marginalized groups is refracted through technologies of power, including gender, race, and sexuality, resulting in different material outcomes in legal and economic terms. After my two-year position as a Director’s Financial Analyst at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I aim to pursue academic scholarship in discrimination law as applied to the experiences of female and queered bodies within certain assemblages of markets that move athwart each other—chief among these being access to financial services and labor markets, as well as reproductive labor in the home and family. Theorists and everyday contemporary fiction writers touching upon philosophy, East Asian gender and women’s studies, and economics are vital sources of inspiration for threading together my project.
