Working as a trusted partner with the customer using my long-term experience and knowledge of the Orange Microwave transmission network. I expanded and developed the use of a database to manage the current use of legacy OFCOM microwave link licences. By prioritising the microwave link decommissioning and recovery this work resulted in being able to minimise licence renewal fees through the cancellation of the associated OFCOM licences. Used supporting systems and tools IMS, Spectrum, ADC Build and Microsoft Access to ensure as much data accuracy and validity as possible.Delivered Monthly PowerPoint presentations to report progress and savings being made within the project whilst also supporting ad hoc reports as requested. Created a strategy for future scope extension to complete the Microwave recovery program of all legacy links.

Managing the assignment of traffic scoring to sites in order to direct the correct backhaul solution plans to support 2G refresh, 3G integration and as appropriate LTE (4G). Prioritisation of the correct transmission delivery to cell sites so as to determine the importance of activation on a site by site basis. Identifying areas where cost savings can be made to the business through third party planning teams optimising the choice of investment opportunities in the backhaul solutions. Providing support at delivery review meetings to ensure the progress of backhaul meets the requirements of both EE LTE (4G) and Network integration programmes. Analysing and approving transmission orders to enable EE 4G rollout plans.

Providing consultancy transmission planning services on the Orange/NSN contract. Dimensioning the transmission network to support the future capacity demands of 7.2 Mb/s mobile data rates. Responsible for the circuiting, link planning and deployment to support and maintain the OUK network. Managing all transmission aspects of Mobile deployments to cover Festivals and Events. Re-engineering the transmission to accomodate churning sites and their replacements. Supporting major 2G and 3G rehost plan of the existing network to support capacity growth on the network. All work involved the intensive use of IMS and OUK systems. I had a break in my contract between July and November 2010.

Managing a large team of engineers firstly in Manchester, covering the North of England and Scotland, then a team targetting Central London. The following key roles were covered. Developed and introduced a national process to maximise coverage improvement in key customer complaint areas. Coordinated a multidisciplinary team to ensure the first successful demonstration of 3G coverage to the national press ahead of competitors. Accomplished the delivery of marketing specified coverage in Central London, North of England and Scotland through the management of successful engineering teams. Utilised complex IT systems to demonstrate deficiencies of prediction tool in order to refocus attention and investment on key coverage problem areas. Stressed the importance of achieving maximum coverage from sites whilst complying with local planning restrictions through coaching the team. Managed the use of computer generated reports to monitor customer usage of sites and to maintain optimum customer quality of service. Promoted the use of temporary sites to maintain customer coverage in the occasion of either special events or site churn.

Planning BTS sites for the North West and Scotland using maps, predictions tools, site maps, propagation trials and line of sight surveys for microwave links. Optimisation of the network for launch in 1994. Organised network launch team to achieve optimum coverage for 2G network launch in Scotland. Designed, surveyed and upgraded key nodal sites in Scotland, Humberside and Northern Ireland to ensure cost efficient networking solutions. Planned microwave link solutions for a large number of coverage sites across Manchester, Hull, north East and Scotland to ensure maximum network reliability whilst exploiting use of self governed 38GHz band.Produced circuiting and provisioning information for sites to ensure the successful launch of the Scottish network in 1994.
