My entrance into Insurance Operations at a lending institution was the result of forward thinking and wanting to employ many years of Commercial insurance knowledge in an industry other than traditional insurance underwriting and management. The Insurance Operations department was new at BankAtlantic when I joined it as Manager in January 2007. It was the start of working with a great group of people throughout the organization. The challenge was great and the rewards were greater. During my tenure, processes for tracking daily insurance were improved greatly, and made more professional.I was involved in the project to define and meet BankAtlantic's needs related to lender placed insurance and worked directly with the vendor on policy review, reviewing their contracts, placing the insurance, monitoring the in force accounts and monthly statements. Prior to leaving BankAtlantic, I contacted the vendor and was putting together a program to return profits to us based on premium volume and/or loss experience.I launched and completed automated requests for our borrowers' renewal insurance. The process included letters being printed from the system, specifying expiration date and type of renewal insurance required, and the address of the collateral property.The automated requests were mailed directly to borrowers' agents without my department touching them. Response from agents was very good.At Capacity Insurance Company, I reported directly to the CEO, was company's first underwriter, Underwriting Manager and Vice President of Underwriting. From 1989 to 2005, I functioned in several capacities, including being on the team that drafted policy and procedures, selecting and licensing agents, rate filings, audit facilitator with the Florida Department of Financial Services and liaison with ISO. I was also a Vice President, Project Manager at Program Underwriters, the sister company of Capacity.Specialties: Concept One by Epic, Metavante Insight, Excel, Problem solving focus, process improvement/organizational skills and great knowledge of traditional Commercial Property and Casualty Insurance and priceless knowledge of how this insurance relates to the Banking industry.
