I have been in the Industry since 1989, starting at YEB, so I have a good knowledge of the industry. Within my current role I manage the energy portfolio for all the Commercial buildings/supplies that Leeds City Council are liable for (approximately 1,900 gas and electricity supplies). This also involves co-ordinating the installation of new supplies with Contractors, External Agents and council Project Officers to ensure they are registered on our Contract and the appropriate Agents are appointed. Disconnections also play a factor ensuring that services are removed in a timely manner when required for building demolitions. Analysis of the billing data is also key to highlight where potential monetary savings could possibly be made. We have also been rolling out a programme to have our buildings fitted with Smart metering to ensure that each month we are only paying for actual usage and so reduce the number of amendments and therefore making budgeting easier and more accurate.
