I completed a 9-week clinical rotation at Island Sports Physical Therapy in Coram. During my time here I gained experience in delegating tasks to both physical therapy aides and physical therapy assistants such as instructing patients on proper performance of therapeutic exercises and activities. I evaluated or treated 10-12+ patients everyday utilizing various interventions such as therapeutic exercises, gait training, neuromuscular re-education techniques, manual therapy (such as joint mobilizations, stretching, and soft tissue mobilizations), and balance training. Lastly, I improved my ability to build patient rapport and my documentation skills utilizing the WebPT software to ensure proper insurance reimbursement for my services.

I completed an 8-week clinical rotation at Northwell Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, NY. During my time here I was mainly treating patients in the acute care setting with some time in the ICU. I performed multiple patient evaluations and treatments for various medical diagnoses and postoperative patients. During this clinical rotation I built on my clinical abilities such as time management, multitasking, professionalism, patient communication, clinical reasoning, and documentation skills. I also gained experience educating patients on proper usage of various assistive devices, home exercise programs after discharge from the hospital, and their postoperative precautions they should be following to avoid any injury to their surgical site.

I assisted physical therapist's in performing various therex with patient's when required. I also was responsible for preparing and sanitizing exercise equipment for patient use under direct supervision from licensed therapists. Lastly, I was responsible for organizing patient's therex flow charts to ensure that all of their exercises were being recorded and completed.
