When people come together with a common purpose, they can achieve amazing things. It’s exhilarating to be a part of it, whether it’s on the sports field (for me that’s mainly as a coach these days), or whether it’s in the work environment. Given the amazing people and clients I get to team-up with and the important and impactful work they do, the chance to contribute and make a difference, heightens the sense of satisfaction. No surprises then, that I have a particular interest in collaborative operating models, particularly their design and deployment on complex challenges like ‘wicked problems’ where they present the greatest chances of success. I’ve found that by incorporating design principles and systems thinking into the approach, these models offer compelling opportunities for government, industry and the community to work successfully together.In recent years I have begun to focus on the application of human centred design principles in the development of strategy, operating model design and business transformation.
