Over the summer of 2017, I worked in the Division of Environmental Remediation at the NYSDEC. I was responsible for processing the hazardous waste manifests, and entering annual report data for the Manifest and Reporting Section. While there I got a chance to see how the department was run and the inner workings. I attended several seminars about hazardous waste sites and the new federal e-manifest system. I also attended regular section meetings which helped me to better understand the work dynamic and tasks of the state department. I learned a lot about the federal and state regulations regarding hazardous waste and pollution.In the summer of 2018, I worked in Bureau B of the Division of Environmental Remediation. I gained a better understanding of the State's Superfund and Brownfield Cleanup Programs. I visited multiple sites in my time there. generated maps, attended meetings with engineering firms, and investigated the Jewett White Lead site in Staten Island.

Data Analysis at Center for Infrastructure, Transportation, and the Environment (CITE).An Increasing number of disasters affecting communities worldwide has prompted the need to better prepare, respond and recover in order to reduce human suffering and loss of life and money. In response to that: the research community is investing efforts in the investigation, documentation, and analysis of recent disasters to better understand the dynamics and particularities of Post-disaster Humanitarian Logistics (PD-HL). This Project is intended for the development of an integrative “Cyber-Enabled Discovery System for Advanced Multidisciplinary Study of Humanitarian Logistics for Disaster Response”. Understanding the factors that explain the degree of success in PD-HL, and assessing the scalability of the successful ones, could open the doors to new paradigms that overcome the kind of challenges that hampered efforts disaster response. My research position focuses on data analysis that will assist in the design process.
