Develop the PPI Business System at the site in Austin through focused efforts on establishing KPI leadership, a Tiered Daily Management System, Standard Work, A3 problem solving and RCCM, Gemba Walks, and Kaizens. Creating a site-wide culture of Lean thinking by developing employee skills in waste identification, 5S, 3P, Heijunka, SMED, VSM, Kanban, Kata, and cell design.

Continuous Improvement lead for distribution center with over 130 team members. Coach leadership and staff on concepts of lean, tactical methods for improvement, and long-term strategy. Facilitate Kaizen Events to eliminate waste and improve safety within the operation. Manage metrics and improve site performance using DMAIC, SPC, and six-sigma. Conduct High Performance Work Team Training with various functional areas across the site. Develop new tools and processes that improve efficiency and productivity. Work closely with upper and middle management to drive and improve 5S across distribution and all of operations. Lead Project Manager for all major initiatives. Projects include a complete DC renovation to improve the flow of product, increase capacity, and improve quality in 2013. As well as a project to deploy a Warehouse Management System utilizing hand held scanners and 2D bar codes. Lead integration manager for the DC handling pitch/catch aspects of multiple changes in manufacturing and logistics globally.

Continuous Improvement team member within the Austin Manufacturing Site's Business Excellence Group. Drove improvement projects throughout manufacturing designed to improve cost, quality, deliver, and safety. Utilized the Shingo Model to drive operational excellence. Conducted Green Belt Project to reduce lead-times for protein manufacturing. Travelled to Life Tech's Scotland Manufacturing site for 6 weeks to assist with the site's 5S Transformation and development of High Performance Work Teams. Assisted with the Austin site's application and receipt of Industry Week's 'Best Plants 2011 Award'. Functioned as the Austin Site Project Manager for Life Tech's global re-branding project. Facilitated multiple Kaizen Events both in Austin and abroad.

Primary area of focus is the day-to-day operations of our Solutions Prep Manufacturing and QC Laboratory. Daily evaluations of metrics influence business critical decisions and proper allocation of available resources. Responsible for continuous improvement projects that continue to evolve the Austin Site to one of operational excellence within Life Technologies and the industry. Managed the inception of the siRNA Core Laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry called C-BASS (Cell-Based Assay Screening Service). Negotiated pricing of robotics platforms, scientific equipment, and consumables. Set up a pricing schedule and all standard operating procedures used by the facility. Created computer based protocols to operate Beckman robotics platforms for the isolation of DNA from the Open Biosystems' Human, Mouse, and Rat Libraries and the transfection of plasmids into cell lines for high throughput analysis by way of LSRII Flow Cytometry and MD Biosciences Flouresence Microscopy.
