I am a former CEO that has spent my career helping to build transformative companies. In addition to becoming President of Dymo Industries, I was also the CEO of ICOT Corporation, where we engineered a turn-around of the company. I also led the company’s acquisition of Amati Communications and ultimately the company’s strategic sale to Texas Instruments.I was a founding board member of Oracle, Informatica and Business Objects, which was acquired by SAP in 2007. My decision to take a board seat is always dependent on my faith in the CEO. I look for individuals that I believe can execute while they tackle large issues in the enterprise.I created Discovery Ventures in 1995 in order to help other entrepreneurs create companies of lasting value. Some of Discovery’s most notable investments include: Informatica (NASDAQ: INFA), Kiva Software (acquired by Netscape), Epiphany, and TimesTen Performance Software (acquired by Oracle). I have been on the Board of the UC Berkeley Foundation since 2004 and currently chair the Finance Committee. Additionally, I was elected Chairman of the AeA (American Electronics Association) in its 50th anniversary year.
